New target in premature ejaculation medical treatment

Since many centuries, premature ejaculation was a major male concern. As a result every culture proposed its own medical way to 'cure' this embarassing condition.

Some decades ago, psychosexual methods of premature ejaculation treatment gained massively in popularity. One of this method, called `start-stop' , was proposed by Semans and then popularized by Helen Kaplan Singer. The other one, called `squeeze' technique, was described by Masters and Johnson. Both metohs have acquired a reputation for efficaciousness, but nowadays the success rates are accepted to be close to 25%.

Latest studies have proven an increasingly incrimination of physical factors that cause premature ejaculation. By consequence, today's research is well centered on explaining the central and peripheral neurological mechanism of the ejaculatory process and regulating it with drugs, such as Dapoxetine.
