New hopes for premature ejaculation: dapoxetine
Premature ejaculation (PE) is the constant situation of ejaculating (coming) before a full penetration is achieved or very shortly thereafter. This disorder affects all age categories of male population. Newly developed premature ejaculation is often an early warning sign for the later development of impotence.
Premature ejaculation, like weak erections in older men, is gaining attention not just as another physical quirk but as a common and devastating male sexual dysfunction. Some studies assert that one in three men experiences this problem. But is hard to say whether the complaint is truly epidemic, whether is exaggerated to sell pills.
Many experts think the number of men suffering from PE is far lower than studies sponsored by drug companies suggest. They claim those studies tend to involve and subjective questions such as satisfaction and control. They suggest as general objective criteria of evaluation the amount of time to ejaculate, called IELT (the intravaginal ejaculation latency time). According to their picture, if IELT is less than two minutes, it is a symptom of premature ejaculation. Why two minutes and not one or three, this is another issue. Let them to debate.
It will be very difficult to reach a common opinion, as the issue's prevalence varies by culture. For men in the Middle East rapid coming is viewed as a sign of virility, and by consequence they report a short time. In Latin America the problem is viewed from the opposite site so significantly higher rates are reported. The truth should be at the middle somewhere.
There are many aids for premature ejaculation sufferers, and many hopes as well.
Numbing creams have been around since the 1940's. Then behavioral techniques introduced by the sex research pioneers Masters and Johnson. They are considered effective, although they require the cooperation and patient of the sexual partner. In the last ten years, the off-label use of antidepressants to help early ejaculators slow down has become an open secret.
But the first prescription drug to be approved specifically as a treatment for premature ejaculation, dapoxetine would be. The main advantage for drug-leery consumers is that it could be taken as needed and anywhere before intercourse, it works quickly and lasts a convenient time from one to three hours. New hopes for sufferers are now connected to dapoxetine.
