Dapoxetine received marketing authorization in Finland and Sweeden
Priligy dapoxetine has been reported by a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V., Janssen-Cilag EMEA to have
marketing authorization in Finland and Sweden for the on-demand
treatment of premature ejaculation in men 18 - 64 years of age. These recent approvals follow the positive
outcome of a decentralized marketing authorization procedure in other six European Union countries:
Austria, Finland, Germany, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Finland and Sweden are the first countries in this world to receive marketing authorization for this compound.
Other five European countries are expected to follow national approvals and licenses. Dapoxetine is not approved

Dapoxetine is the first oral medication (tablet) to be approved for
premature ejaculation treatment as it is a drug specifically developed to fight this condition. This drug is a
short-acting, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor developed not to be taken daily, but only when needed. That
means 1-3 hours before sexual intercourse is anticipated. Dapoxetine has been long time evaluated in five randomized,
placebo-controlled Phase III clinical trials involving more than 6,000 men with premature ejaculation and their partners.
Premature ejaculation is a male sexual dysfunction that can be developed from the first sexual encounter or can be
present later in life. Unlike erectile dysfunction, which mainly tends to affect older male population,
premature ejaculation has about similar prevalence across all age groups. The common believe is, in fact, more men
experience premature ejaculation than erectile dysfunction. Statistic claims that premature ejaculation is the most
common men sexual dysfunction, affecting as many as one-third of male population worldwide at some time in their lives.
More and more research suggest serotonin plays a central role in the timing of ejaculation. Apparently, men with
premature ejaculation go through the same process of ejaculation as other men, but they cannot
lasting longer in bed because ejaculation happens more quickly and with a reduced feeling of control.
As a combination of physiological and psychological factors influence the mechanism of ejaculation, the treatment should
include a special training of
sexual techniques regarding lasting longer during intercourse and
sexual orgasms enhancer.
